Mold or mold spores are partially detected by the fine dust sensor of the air-Q. Mold spores have a size of approximately between 5 µm and 100 µm – depending on the type of mold. However, mold spores cannot be distinguished directly from other fine dusts.
However, in conjunction with the other sensors of the air-Q, which detect accompanying mold substances, good statements can be made as to whether it could actually be mold. For example, a change in relative humidity in parallel with a fundamental increase in particulate matter (+possibly an increase in VOCs) indicates a possible mold infestation.
